The BK-43 is a shotgun in DayZ.
Overview[]
The BK-43 is an early-game shotgun, chambered for the 12ga shotgun cartridge.
A rugged and reliable double-barrel break-action shotgun, very popular among farmers.
It serves as a valid early game shotgun, being essentially a BK-12 shotgun with a second barrel. This gives the BK-43 two firing modes – single, when one shell is fired for every trigger pull, and double – where both shells are expended at once, dealing devastating damage to a target at close range.
And close range is a necessity, as the BK-43’s fixed zero of 25m, and the inherently inaccurate buckshot, limit the effective range to about ~25m. Rifled slugs are reliable to about ~75m of range, but even then, their accuracy is subpar.
The BK-43’s main strength lies in its Sawed-Off configuration, as a surprise weapon. With a smaller inventory profile, the weapon can be easily hidden and used to dispatch a careless opponent.

The BK-43 can only attach a Ghillie Rifle Wrap.
Crafting[]
With the use of a Hacksaw the shotgun can be modified by filing off the barrel, and sawing off the buttstock, to create the Sawed-Off BK-43.
Trivia[]
- The BK-43, or it's real life counterpart the Baikal Izh-43 is a side-by-side shotgun utilizing two separate triggers - one for each barrel. It also features chrome plating for both bore and chamber to resist corrosion and standard threading for choke tubes.
- This shotgun has been offered with barrels of varying size to suit different uses: 20" (50.8cm), 24" (61cm), 26" (66cm), and 28" (71.1cm). The standard model in-game appears to be based on either the 24" or 26" version.
