Balota (Cyrillic: Балота) is a coastal town in Chernarus, next to which lies the Balota Airstrip. The name of the town is based off the Russian word for "swamp" (болота or bolota) and likely derives its name from the nearby swamp located nearby, eastward along the coast towards Komarovo.

Strategy

Balota is a high traffic area due to the neighboring Airstrip, its proximity to Chernogorsk and because the town is by the coast where new players may spawn. In the development process, the nearby airstrip has been made less and less lucrative as of 0.49 due to the removal of many key military buildings. As such, it likely sees less traffic than before and by association the town of Balota has also become less-traveled. Players should be warned that this does not mean they should be careless in exploring the town or the surrounding area. The town itself still has worthwhile loot, but no more or less so than any other similarly-sized coastal town.

Inside the town, the MP5-K is the optimal gun to use because of its short range skirmishing potential. However, once inside the airfield or while approaching the town, a Mosin 9130 mounted with a Long Range Scope is going to offer players a bigger killing potential because most players are forced to run out in the open.
