A Burn is a type of injury in DayZ.
Generally a result of moving too close to a fireplace to increase the survivor's temperature, burn is a common cause of damage and even death, especially for inexperienced players. Burn damage is a direct reduction from the survivor's total health, and as such will result in instant death (as opposed to unconciousness from shock or color vision loss from blood loss), if the survivor is not removed from the source of burn.
Accidentally suffering from burn should always be followed by checking the condition of equipment, especially the shoes.
Cause[]
- Coming in direct contact with fire (e.g. stepping on a Fireplace, Fire Barrel etc.)
- Attempting to eat food with a temperature rating of hot or searing.
Effects[]
- Direct contact: while burning, survivors lose 5 Health/second, boots and other equipment suffer substantial wear.
- Eating hot food: grunting, interruption of eating, health loss equal to 1 second of burn.
Treatment[]
As of 1.21 , receiving a Burn leaves no lasting effects. Survivors need only remove themselves from the fire.
