The CR-527 is a hunting rifle in DayZ.
Overview[]
The CR-527 is an early-game bolt-action hunting rifle, chambered in 7.62x39mm, and fed from detachable 5-round magazines.
Respected for its light weight (at only 2.7kg), ruggedness and great accuracy, the CR-527 is often the first proper rifle that players will get their hands on. It’s a good medium-range weapon, but its usefulness in close quarters is limited by the bolt-action’s low rate of fire (Only ~27 rounds per minute).
The rifle’s iron sights possess a fixed zero of 200m, making it likely to overshoot a close-range target.
Comparison[]
When compared to other bolt-action rifles, it stands out as one of the two bolt-actions to be chambered for an intermediate cartridge, as opposed to a full-power one. (The other one being the Pioneer police rifle).
As such, the CR-527 does not have the same firepower as say, the Mosin 91/30, or the M-70 Tundra, but its lower weight, greater ammunition abundance, and shorter build are a reasonable tradeoff.
Another unlikely advantage of the CR-527 is the detachable magazine. Whereas the Mosin and the Tundra need to be reloaded singe round at a time, the CR-527 can just reload an entire magazine in a pinch. This can prove a nasty surprise to an unaware assailant.
Attachments[]
The CR-527 has access to a very limited number of attachments. It can equip a Ghillie Rifle Wrap, and a Plastic Bottle Suppressor. It is also compatible with only two optics: the Hunting Scope, and the Sportpoint Sights.

- The CR-527 is based on the CZ 527, a real-life compact hunting rifle produced initially as the Brno Fox, later as the CZ 527.
- The CR-527 is most likely produced by Chernarusk Zbrojovka, the same manufacturer that makes the CR-75.
