The Canteen is a portable source of drinking water that survivors can use to replenish their thirst.
Uses[]
- Can be drunk, emptied, or transferred to another container.
- Can be heated in the cooking slots of fireplaces and stoves until boiling to remove contaminants, except for Heavy Metal Poisoning.
- Can be refilled at Water Pumps or Water Springs for fresh water or any source of waters like rivers, streams, and ponds.
- Can hold Gasoline when filled up at Fuel Pumps at Gas Stations. The Canteen must be emptied of Water before Gasoline can be added.
- Can be attached to the Belt, the Tactical Belt, and the Hip Pack, but not the the Rope Belt.
Cholera Risk[]
- Spawned Canteens have a chance of containing Cholera. This chance is 50% on Chernarus and Livonia, and 20% on Sakhal. It is always recommended to use Chlorine Tablets or Chelating Tablets, or by boiling to purify before consumption of the spawned liquid OR empty the bottle out and refill entirely from a Water Pump or Water Spring to be safe.
- Consuming from a canteen shared between a Cholera, Salmonella or Common Cold infected player and an uninfected player can spread the infection.
