Coughing is a symptom in DayZ Standalone. It is a symptom and a sign of a player contracting either the Common Cold or Influenza, it can also be a symptom of Gas Poisoning. When getting a disease with this symptom, coughing will make a sound that can alert other nearby Survivors and Infected, along with the bottom portion of the screen being momentarily covered by your survivor's hand covering their mouth. Proper Medical Supplies can get rid of these symptoms which could progress into something more deadly.
