The EGD-5 Frag Grenade is a type of explosive weapon in the DayZ Standalone. While intended to be thrown, typically to eliminate groups of hostiles, the EGD-5 Frag Grenade can also be combined with a tripwire to create an explosive booby trap.

General

The EGD-5 Frag Grenade is a time-delayed Hand Grenade, a post World War II Soviet anti-personnel fragmentation grenade. Typically using a 4 second UZRGM fuse, the EGD-5 Frag Grenade contains a 110-gram charge of TNT with an internal fragmentation liner that produces around 350 fragments and has a lethal radius of approximately 3 meters and an injury radius of approximately 9 meters.

How to Use

Prior to throwing, the grenade must have its pin pulled in order to arm the device, which is done by utilizing the action button (F by default). Grenades currently don't detonate inside the thrower's hand or next to other grenades, even when the pin is pulled. Throwing a Grenade will result in a high arc that can be difficult to predict without practice. It is advised to use grenades outside, as most walls and floors will block the damage of the explosion. The use of a grenade on an entrenched enemy/player can cause instant death, unconsciousness, injury, or hearing loss/blurred vision that can make flanking or charging the target easier or more effective. Careful judgement about your distance to the explosion needs to be considered especially if you are throwing without cover as the damaging radius of the grenade is up to 9 meters.

Trivia

  • The EGD-5 Frag Grenade was based off of its real-world counterpart which is a post-World War II Soviet anti-personnel fragmentation grenade, designed in the early 1950's
