The EGD-5 Frag Grenade is a type of Ammunition and/or Weapons in the DayZ Standalone.
General
The EGD-5 Frag Grenade is an explosive device that can be thrown, and can incapacitate groups of hostiles.
In order to arm the device, the pin must be pulled using the action button (F by default), and then thrown for the desired effect. Grenades currently do not detonate in the hand of the thrower or detonate adjacent grenades. Throwing a grenade will result in a high arc that can be difficult to predict without practice. It is advised to use grenades outside as most walls and floors will block the damage of the explosion. The use of a grenade on an entrenched enemy/player can cause instant death, unconsciousness, injury, or hearing loss/blurred vision that can make flanking or charging the target easier or more effective. Careful judgement about your distance to the explosion needs to be considered especially if you are throwing without cover as the damaging radius of the grenade is around 6.5m. Grenades only deal damage to the legs and feet of its victims.

- The EGD-5 Frag Grenade was based off of the RGD-5 Explosive Hand Grenade which is a post World War II Soviet anti-personnel fragmentation grenade, designed in the early 1950's
