A beret with an insignia stitched on one side. It doesn't offer much protection, nor does it provide much thermal comfort. In-game description
The Beret seems to provide little in the way of protection, and is usually worn for purely cosmetic reasons. They tend to go well with check shirts of the corresponding color.
It could be possible for survivors to use them as means to identify friends/clans, as many other survivors may opt out of wearing the headdress due to the lack of protection. This would be easiest with both the Red Military and the UN Military beret, due to the distinguishing colors. However, this means the survivor and their friends could be more visible, due to the higher contrast in color.
