An oil barrel with holes in it. Still holds up as storage for solid items, it's mainly used as a vassel, in which a fire can be made. In-game description
The Fire Barrel is an item in DayZ. It can be obtained by taking an Oil Barrel and modifying it with a Knife, Screwdriver, Crowbar, or any kind of axe (including the Pickaxe). It can then have sticks, rags, paper, firewood etc. added to it for use as a fireplace. It also has four smoking slots and three cooking slots which comes very handy for bases without fireplace.
It has the advantage of being fully usable even when it's raining, unlike a stone oven or tripod.
