A buildable flag pole. The sturdy base supporting a stabilized mast, upon which a flag can be hoisted. — In-game description
The Flag Pole is a craftable base structure in DayZ. When fully built with a Flag attached and hoisted, all items in a 60-meter radius within a storage container will not despawn (object lifetime values will be refreshed). The flag position will slowly lower over time but can be easily hoisted or lowered by the player.
Required Tools & Materials
Note: The Shovel and Pickaxe have the same function when building the Flag Pole, and only one or the other is required to do so, as is for the Hatchet and Hammer. The sledgehammer is required though (You'll still need the Pickaxe to collect the Large Stones).
Resources & Materials
To begin crafting a Flag Pole, a Flag Pole Kit must be crafted and used to deploy the triangular crafting frame. Once complete, the base can be constructed or the kit can be folded back up.
The Base of the Flag Pole requires one Wooden log and a Sledgehammer to build. This will stick the log in the ground vertically and allows for the support to be constructed, and subsequently drops the Flag Pole Kit on the ground once built. The Sledgehammer is also required to dismantle the Base.
The Support requires 32 Stones, 6 Wooden logs and a Shovel/Pickaxe to build. This will stack the stones and logs surrounding the base log, and allow for the construction of the Pole. A Shovel or Pickaxe is required to dismantle the Support.
The Pole requires one Metal Wire, one Rope, 60 Nails, 3 Wooden logs and a Hammer or Hatchet to build. This will create a long pole and hoist mechanism to raise the flag, and allow for a Flag to be added to the Flag Pole. A Hammer or Hatchet is also required to dismantle the Pole.
With a Flag attached to the Flag Pole, the flag can be raised or lowered. The flag can be fully raised in five actions. The Flag can only be taken into the player's hands if it is at its lowest position. Currently the flag position will lower automatically over 45 days, and will require re-hoisting to keep the Flag Pole active.
The flagpole when a flag is raised will refresh the lifetime of objects within a 60m radius every 5 days. Fences, Watchtowers and Tents have a despawn time of 45 days, but when combined with a flagpole, could last up to 90 days without interaction or refreshing.
- The Flag Pole Kit requires one Rope to craft, which means once it is dropped by constructing the Flag Pole Base, the Rope can be removed from the Flag Pole Kit and be reused for building the pole.
- Being able to see the flag position of another player's base will allow a player to see if the base is frequently or recently occupied/protected.
- The Flag Pole was first added in patch 1.09.153337 on 18 August 2020 as part of the 1.09 Experimental on PC, alongside the 27 varieties of Flag and the Flag Pole Kit.
