Overview[]

Survivor's Immune System Strength, or "immunity" in short, is a Character Survival Stat in DayZ. When high enough, immunity will provide resistance against certain diseases and illnesses. Although the immunity level isn't directly shown to the player, unlike Stamina, for example, it can be deduced from other visible stats. It can also be boosted temporarily to its maximum level by taking Multivitamin Pills.

Effect on diseases[]

When the immunity is higher than the disease's potency, it will start to kill off the harmful viruses, bacteria and chemicals present in the survivor's body, thus preventing or eventually curing the sickness. The affected diseases, their potencies and the maximum amount of time the immunity may take to cure the disease.

  • The time will be shorter if the disease
    hasn't progressed to its maximum severity.
  • Immunity has no impact on any other diseases.

Stat value[]

Survivor's Immune System Strength is determined as the average value of their Energy, Water, Blood and Health stats.
So for example, if the energy is 70% of its maximum, water 30%, blood 100%, and health 60%, then the resulting immunity is:

Immunity = (70% + 30% + 100% + 60%) / 4 = 65%

The immunity level can be estimated roughly by looking at the symbols of the aforementioned stats on the HUD and the stat ranges they represent:

Note that the lowest value of Blood is 50%, and not zero as with others. This is because the character can only lose 50% of their blood without dying. In other words, the lowest possible immunity of a living survivor is 12.5%. ((0 + 0 + 50 + 0) / 4 = 12.5)

Multivitamin Pills will boost the survivor's immune system strength to 100% for their 5 minute duration. They are used to cure several diseases: The Common Cold, Influenza, Cholera, Salmonella, and Poisoning.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being shown next to the other four stats on the HUD, the Temperature stat is not related to Immune System.
  • Technically, Poisoning is also affected by Immune System. It's not mentioned above, because its Potency is 15%. For the immunity to get this low, it would mean the survivor would have to be seconds away from dying already, so getting incurably poisoned would be irrelevant at that point.
  • Because Multivitamins boost immunity to 100%, you can use them before consuming dirty water or raw/rotten/burnt meat and not contract Salmonella or Poisoning respectively. This also means you will not be able to get sick from other diseases curable with Multivitamins, such as the Common Cold or Influenza, for the vitamin's 5-minute duration. (Not applicable as of 1.28.)
