The Improvised Bolt is an ammunition for the Crossbow in DayZ. It is craftable by combining a Short Stick with any knife. It can be upgraded by combining it with Chicken Feathers to make an Improvised Bolt (feathered). The crude improvised bolt is very inaccurate and should only be used at short distances, but it weighs slightly less and lasts a bit longer than the feathered version. The crude bolt can be shot 5 times before becoming ruined while the feathered bolt can only be shot 4 times.

Trivia

• The Improvised Bolt models were initially released in v0.48.124737 on 13th August 2014 as the Sharpened Stick and Improvised Arrow; two separately named arrow types, and were only usable with the Improvised Ashwood Short Bow. The arrows were removed in 0.63 Beta awaiting reimplementation on newer technology. The models returned as crossbow bolts in 1.21 Experimental, as scaled versions of their respective arrows due to the Crossbow's size increase.
