The AKM is a modernized version of the classic AK-47, introduced in 1959. Although replaced in Soviet/Russian service by the AK-74 in the late 1970s, the AKM is still is use around the world, being the most common assault rifle in the world.

The AK47M is one of the most popular assault rifles in the game due to it's high damage and availability.
Thanks to it's 7.62x39mm ammunition, the AK47M does a very respectable 4500 damage, compared to the AK-74's 2722 damage. This is the AK47M's main selling point. It is similar in length to the M4 variants, making it easier to use than the M16 indoors. It's higher stopping power allows it to defeat an opponent faster in close quarters combat than 5.56mm (M16 or M4) or 5.45mm (AK-74) rifles. Because of this, the AK47M is considered the king of close-quarters combat in [[mod::DayZ|DayZ]].

The AK47M has adjustable zeroing (100 to 800m) and a very small front sight post. It is about as accurate as an M4 Carbine, though it's superior sights may make accurate aiming difficult. These are the spreads out to 300 meters.
The AK47M's noise levels are similar to those of the Lee-Enfield, so it is advisable to use caution when firing this weapon in cities as it has an long audible distance and automatic fire can draw a large horde very quickly.
Ammunition[ | ]
The AK47M uses AK47M magazines (7.62x39mm), which are relatively easy to find. Take note that it can NOT use 5.45x39mm AK-74 magazines OR SA-58 magazines, though the latter can be re-combined[[1]]into AK47M magazines.
