The FN FAL is a Belgian battle rifle designed and manufactured at the Fabrique Nationale Herstal plant. It is chambered in 7.62x51 NATO and has seen use all over the world. It has proven to be accurate and reliable. It can only be found in helicopter crash sites.

The FN FAL is a relatively common find at Helicopter Crash Sites, and due to its high damage and long-range, it is very popular with Survivors. It fires the 7.62x51mm round, which is also used in sniper rifles like the DMR and M24 and allows it to reach out to farther ranges than assault rifles, such as the M16A4. This also allows it to do over twice the damage of the M16A4 - It does 8000 Damage per round - as opposed to the M16A4's 3300 damage. The FAL's recoil is quite heavy, and compared to the M14, the FAL is harder to control while firing rapidly. This is the FAL's only major disadvantage, but the high damage will compensate for the lower rate of fire caused by the recoil. The FN FAL can fire in both semi-automatic and fully-automatic modes, but fully-automatic is generally a waste of ammunition due to the uncontrollable recoil it generates.
In capable hands, the FN FAL is effective out to at least 600m. Expert shooters can hit targets up to 800m away, though this is extremely difficult. Average shooters should have no problem firing up to 400m. The use of attachments like the CCO or Holo Sight may make engaging targets at extreme ranges more difficult, but they allow more-rapid target acquisition at short ranges.
It should be noted that the FAL is very loud compared to assault rifles, so care should be taken while using the weapon when Infected are around.
