The GP-25 is a single-shot, 40mm Grenade Launcher developed in the Soviet Union and used around the world. The GP-25 fits onto the Bayonet Lug of AK-Type weapons.
Overview[ | ]
In DayZ, the GP-25 is found in Military Areas and can be fitted to the AK-74. The GP-25 is difficult to use, but a trained operator can land grenades up to 150m away with great accuracy. The GP-25 is much harder to use than the American M203 due to it's sights not being properly implemented into the game, but is much more common.
Despite the firepower offered by grenade launchers, it is quite rare for players to actually use them. This may be due to the fact that few players know how to accurately aim them. However, with some practice, the GP-25 can be a deadly weapon: A direct hit to any vehicle, including Helicopters, will disable or even destroy the vehicle, and near-hits on Infantry will break legs, cause Unconsciousness, and Kill.
It should be noted that the grenades have a minimum arming distance of about 20m, and will do no damage under this range, even if a direct hit is scored on the target.
Grenades for the M203 and GP-25 alike are rare, so it is a good idea to take them when they are available.
