The Ghillie Suit is one of the most sought after forms of clothing in all of DayZ. It allows the player to cover himself/herself in a large, military-grade sniping suit covered with large leaves and brush to allow the player to blend in with almost every forest environment in the game. Although the suit does not offer protection from zombies, it is effective for staying out of sight of other players. It is also useful for hiding from players in helicopters.
It is important to note that foliage a player may chose to use as concealment while wearing a ghillie suit will not necessarily provide visual concealment from other players who are at a distance. As a lot of foliage, including grass, is generated on the client side.
This means that even when a player is lying amongst dense grass, another player looking on from a distance will not see the grass concealing them, potentially making them easier to spot.
