Note: this page covers the Mod version of DayZ; for information on the Standalone, see Inventory.
The Inventory/Gear is where items are stored. To view the Gear menu you need to press the "G" key by default.
On the left contains your gear, allowing you to move it into piles of items, or your Backpack.
On the right contains:
- Two slots, one for Night Vision Googles, and the other for either Binoculars, or a Range Finder.
- One main weapon + 12 standard slots, for normal items, such as Consumables, and ammunition.
- One Sidearm + 8 slots, for sidearm ammunition and Bandages.
- 12 tool slots, which can hold things such as Maps, Hunting Knives, Compass, Entrenching Tools, Flashlights; Regular and Military, GPS', Mod:Hatchets, Matches, Toolboxes, Watches, and Radios (currently unusable).
Do not try to overfill any container with items. If you add an item to a full container an item from the container is dropped on the ground! The amount of open slots in your backpack is displayed when you press "Open Bag" but the capacity of Vehicles and Tents are not shown in the gear menu. When switching weapons, first place your weapon on the ground (preferably onto an existing loot pile so you don't lose it), then pick up the new weapon, this will stop you from destroying your ammunition.
