The M240 is an American copy of the Belgian FN MAG general-purpose machine-gun, that has replaced the M60 is all branches of the US Armed Forces.
Overview[ | ]
The M240 is similar to the Mark 48, though it is much longer, and thus less suited to close-range combat. It is slightly more accurate, however. It is accurate out to 800m, and is especially effective for long-range suppresive fire. Compared to the PKM, the M240 has a higher rate of fire and less recoil while prone.
Like all light machine guns, the M240 is equipped with a bipod, which drastically reduces recoil while prone. However, when standing up or kneeling, the M240 is nearly uncontrollable, so it is advised to fire it in short bursts of 2-5 rounds. When prone, fire long bursts at the target until it drops.
The M240 fires the same 7.62x51mm NATO round as the DMR, M14 and FN FAL, and thus has a much longer range and is far harder hitting than the M249 SAW. Capable of killing a player in two shots, the M240 is extremely effective against players and vehicles alike at medium-to-long range.
Like other 7.62mm weapons, the M240 is extremely loud, so it is ill-advised to use the weapon near large numbers of zombies.
Ammunition[ | ]
The M240 only accepts 100Rnd. M240 Mags.
