The M4A1 is an American Assault Rifle, initially introduced in 1994 as a replacement for older XM-177 Carbines. Although originally intended as a weapon for non-combat personnel and Officers, the M4A1 has since replaced the M16A2 and M16A4 as the standard-issue rifle in every branch of the US Armed Forces.

Overview[ | ]

The M4A1 is one of the most sought-after assault rifles in the game, mainly due to it's good combination of accuracy, control-ability, damage and rate of fire. It can accept more attachments than any other weapon currently in-game.

The M4A1 Does around 3300 damage per round at close range. This is obviously a disadvantage while going up against a AK-47M, which does 4500 damage, but the M4A1 has a higher rate of fire and less recoil than the AK-47M, usually negating this advantage. At longer ranges, the M4A1's 5.56mx45mm round's higher velocity and superior sights will give the M4A1 an advantage over the AK-47M. It is effective out to 300m, though further shots may be possible.

However, it excels a shorter ranges, especially in close-quarters, and like the M16A4, it is relatively quiet, making it usable inside cities without to much fear of drawing an overwhelming hoard of zombies to your location. This makes the M4A1 an excellent weapon for looting and fighting in urban/close range areas. The M4A1 is significantly less accurate than the M16A4, however, and is also much rarer.

The M4A1 can be fitted with a wide variety of attachments, including the ACOG Scope and M203 Grenade Launcher, as well as silencers, making it a highly versatile weapon. It is not nearly as accurate as the ACOG-Equipped M16A4, however.

Ammunition[ | ]

The M4A1 Accepts 30Rnd STANAG magazines and their SD Variants. It will NOT accept G36 Magazines, though they can be re-combined[[1]] into STANAG magazines.
