The P1 is a handgun in DayZ.

Overview[]

The P1, often called the Walther, is a semi-automatic pistol, chambered for the 9x19mm cartridge and fed from detachable 8rd P1 Magazines.

A respectable early-game pistol, with more punch than the IJ-70, but less ammunition capacity than the CR-75 or Mlock-91. It is oftentimes the player’s first ‘proper’ pistol.

As with most pistols, the P1 performs best at short ranges, against unarmored targets. While the 9x19mm cartridge is nominally supersonic, when fired from the P1, it is just a bit short of the sound barrier, and as such, bullet crack is not generated.

Because of this, the P1 is a prime pistol to use in conjunction with a suppressor, as in that configuration, it is only audible at up to 200m.

The P1 is compatible only with the Pistol Suppressor, and the Plastic Bottle Suppressor.

Trivia[]

  • The Walther P1 is a post-war variant of the German Walther Pistole 38, issued to West German Bundeswehr and police forces from 1963 onwards.
  • The main changes from the P38, were the switch from steel to an aluminum frame, and in 1975, a hex bolt reinforcement to the slide.
  • In 1990, the German military began to phase out the P1 with the newly made H&K P8, which would soon become the legendary USP.
