Potato is a type of food in DayZ.
Unlike other fruits and vegetables obtained via Horticulture, the Potato does not have seeds that can be cut out. Instead, the Potato itself is used as a "seed" to start another Potato Plant, and works with the 1.12 update. The 1.12 patch also added the need for Potatoes to be peeled with a Knife (disambiguation) or another sharp object before they can be consumed. Boiling unpeeled potatoes makes them ruined.
Despite it’s real life counterpart, you can eat a potato raw without food poisoning.
