Portable gasoline-powered generator. Provides enough electricity to power a small home for as long as the fuel lasts. In-game description
Description[ | ]
The Power Generator is a type of equipment in DayZ.
It currently is used as the main power source for bases or fortifications that players can build in the game. Besides the Power Generator, there are also car and truck batteries. They have a limited capacity and need to be recharged eventually, which can only be done with a Battery Charger connected to a Power Generator.
Usage[ | ]
The Power Generator has 4 main areas of interaction:
- Fuel port
- Spark plug socket
- On/off switch
- 4 outlets to connect electrical devices
In order for the Power Generator to be able to turn on and generate power, you need 2 extra items. A Spark Plug and fuel. The Spark Plug can be added without tools and the fuel can be added using liquid containers such as a Jerrycan or a Plastic Bottle.
While turned on, the Power Generator makes a medium-loud engine/generator type noise which can be heard from up to 20 meters and will consume its fuel capacity to generate electricity. The rate of which it consumes fuel is 875mL per hour. Therefore, a fully fuelled Power Generator will run for up to 8 hours.
To make use of the power generated by the Power Generator you will need an electrical device. The following items can be connected directly to the Power Generator:
To connect an item to the Power Generator simply hold the item in your hands and look at the generator. An option to connect will show. Once connected, place the item where you want it to be.
Note: Not all electrical items have the same range distance. For example, the construction light will only connect up to 5 meters when connected directly. To extend the reach, you need to use a cable reel. (The cable reel is acts as a extension cord.)
