Seven-shot tactical semi-automatic shotgun fed from an internal magazine. Handy in intense close-quarters engagements. Uses all types of 12ga shotgun shells. In-game description
The R12 is a semi-automatic shotgun in DayZ, added in Update 1.28.
Overview[]
The R12 is a mid-to-late game semi-automatic shotgun chambered for the 12-gauge cartridge, fed from an internal tube magazine. It is found in Police locations, as well as Police dynamic events.
It features an internal tube magazine, with a capacity of 7 rounds.
Comparison[]
When compared to its immediate rival, the BK-133, the R12 offers serious improvement. The R12 boasts a much higher rate of fire, due to its semi-automatic nature, longer effective range and better accuracy, with improved recoil and sway control, beating out its pump-action cousin.
While the Vaiga outperforms the R12 in pure damage output at close range, the R12’s higher per-shot damage and better accuracy gives it an edge as the distance increases.
The R12 is best to be thought of as a Shotgun-DMR – powerful, accurate and can still be fired quickly when the situation requires.

The firearm can be equipped with any western rail-compatible optic, from the Baraka Sights, all the way up to the Marksman Scope. It also possesses a dedicated side rail for a Universal Flashlight. A Ghillie Rifle Wrap can also be added to the weapon. Like all shotguns, it is not compatible with a suppressor.
