The Russian Armed Forces, or the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are the combined military forces of Russia.

Before the outbreak[ | ]
The Russian Army had a strong presence in Chernarus during the Civil war in 2009, but after the Outbreak happened shortly after most of the Russian Army backed off and left some weapons and vehicles. Just up north of South Zagoria next to the town of Krasnoe a convoy of most likely Russian vehicles lay dead in their tracks from an unknown cause.
In Autumn 2009, the Russians were involved in the bloody civil war against various warring factions and supported the Communist-Socialist rebel group known as the ChDKZ or Chernarussian Movement of the Red Star because the Russian Government was fooled into believing the faction known as the National Party committed the Red Square bombing, in which that killed dozens of Russians and thus led to the Russian's siding with the ChDKZ. The things that led to the outbreak around the Green Sea are unknown, but the time of when the Outbreak happened is definitely sometime just after 2009 when the Civil war was just resolving and ChDKZ were losing and Russian forces began to leave.
Post-Outbreak[ | ]
At some point after (or during) the Civil War, an infection had spread throughout Chernarus. The Russian Armed Forces fought against the zombies hordes, however, many weapons, equipment, and vehicles remain throughout the landscape of Chernarus, mostly damaged, but often in a repairable state. The Russians were eventually overwhelmed by the infected and subsequently withdrew. Russian military equipment is some of the most sought after loot in the game, frequently used by survivors and bandits alike.

There are currently unknown Russian Military bases at this time other than some of the CDF military base's such as Tisy Military Base being right next to the Russian Federation.

The Russian armed forces have a wide variety of equipment in their bases and camps, although it is unknown how much of it was used by them.
