A simple trap to capture small animals. A loop tied to a stick. Not the brightest of designs, but it works. Hopefully. In-game description
The Snare Trap is a type of equipment in DayZ that allows you to trap hares, foxes and chickens.
The snare is crafted by combining a metal wire and a wooden stick. Once crafted, set your trap on the ground in an open location and optionally insert some bait. Valid bait includes seeds, meat, fruit, vegetables, mushrooms and worms. The success of the trap and type of game caught is affected by the bait used. It is unlikely but possible to trap without any bait at all. Leave the trap and come back later, or wait at a distance. If your trap fails to catch something, you can reset it. Otherwise, you can skin your catch for its meat, bones and pelt.
Each time you use a snare, its condition worsens, even if it doesn't catch anything. Thus, the number of uses is limited and will depend on its initial condition. A pristine snare can be used 20 times.
The corpses are generated by the trap; living animals that roam the map are not actually caught.
