The Splitting Axe is a bladed melee weapon and multipurpose tool in DayZ. As of 1.0, the Splitting Axe has surpassed its brother, the Firefighter Axe, in terms of damage and is second only to the Pickaxe. Equal in range to both, the Splitting Axe is a deadly melee weapon. In addition to having all of the same functionality the Firefighter Axe provides, the Splitting Axe boasts more durability in its role as a tool. With its improved damage and versatility, the Splitting Axe is a contender for the best melee weapon in the game.
