Red deer male. Usually hunted for meat and hide. In-game description
The Stag (Cervus Elaphus) is an animal in DayZ, spawning commonly throughout Chernarus and Livonia. They can be tracked down by their distinct mating calls, and are usually found in packs with other stags and Hinds. They can be quite difficult to hunt, as they are scared easily and often require multiple shots to kill. However, killing them successfully is very rewarding, as they provide a large amount of Fat, Bones, Venison Steak and Guts when skinned. In addition, they drop a Deer Pelt, which can be tanned with Garden Lime to create Tanned Leather, useful for creating Leather Backpacks and Leather Shelters.
