Magazines[]

I think that the magazines should get their own collective page because the current System of Handgun, shotgun, and Rifle ammo doesn't really work anymore with things like smg's and the .22 --Basinox (talk) 18:25, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Low\High Caliber?[]

I am a bit confused by the current system change [1]. If we want to sort ammo by raw damage, then may be we should change the section titles because in RL high caliber doesn't always correlates to high damage. Also we are using the metric system and the one invented by the British to annoy me. So '9mm rounds' and '.357 Rounds' have the exact same caliber, same goes for '5.56 mm' and '.22 rounds'. Raw damage =/= actual damage, the later very much depend on the circumstances. I haven't done the math, but I believe that our highest caliber 9mm round, shot from CR75 isn't going to cause more damage then our lowest .22 Round shot from a porter at 500m target. So maybe we should simply sort it by Caliber (which is a constant regardless of the circumstances) using this list as reference. --AnotherArk (talk) 08:02, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
To be honest, 5,56 should be in the same category .22 LR and 5,45. The sections should be renamed "small" and "large" calibre, as this is the most common nomenclature in English. Thoughts? --Kverulant (talk) 19:48, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
I don't think we need two categories at all. Previously we had them to separate handgun and rifle ammo, but since most ammo types can be used with both, I agree with Basinox that system was outdated. But right I think that we should simply list them in a single table from low/small to high/large caliber like here. --AnotherArk (talk) 20:25, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Here is couple of variants I came up with. I prefer the last, since IMO its the most useful one for in-game purposes and very likelly what most people will be most comfortable with visually (longer "rifle" rounds separated from shorter "handgun" rounds) It is similar to what we initially had, with only a slight section name changes --AnotherArk (talk) 07:39, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

I prefer the first one, to be honest. Shotgun ammunition should also be included in the same table (12 bore will obviously be the biggest calibre). are there technical names for these different bullet types (small/round vs long/pointy)? we could use that for the table names. also slugs dont belong into those, cause theyre a completly different ammo type.--TheBlackDracula (talk)
The terms I used (Low-power and High-power rounds) are pretty accurate. Your long/pointy rounds are made this way because they are design to fly at high velocity. Hence the longer\larger casing, which hold more propellant, and pointy shaped aerodynamic bullet to reduce drag.
In real life there are many factors (like this [2]), but gamewise some things are simplified (for example barrel length doesn't seem to effect muzzle velocity, so .22 Round shot from Sporter 22 and Amphibia S work the same). I went with ingame typicalSpeed (and hit for damage). We have 5 bullets in the 260-380 speed range and 4 in the 730-930 range, which can be loosely classified as low and high powered (even if its not 100% accurate).--AnotherArk (talk) 21:36, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
Should the cartridges be sorted after damage, calibre, or a mix? Isn't there a way to somehow make the tables sortable after different terms (e.g. name, a damage "ranking", etc), like Wikipedia tables? --Kverulant (talk) 12:40, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
Not unless we change the layout of the table (either add more data or hidden sort keys), but I'd rather we decide on the current issue of default sort, even if it will turn to be a temporary measure.--AnotherArk (talk) 13:44, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

New table[]

Air friction[]

I am desperate to find the calculation of the air friction in context to the bullet dropdown etc. If someone knows that calculation, mind sharing it? Best would probably be an own wiki page.
