Welcome to DayZ wiki. As an registered user you can now edit the wiki. To help you get started you are advised to read the User Help page. If you haven't already then please do that now. Preferences, speculations and opinions is not the scope for this wiki. You do not get extra beans as a wiki contributor but you help to make this wiki THE source for all survivors and bandits out there - Cheers from sEi (Talk) 13:03, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing the sentence structure and grammar on some of those pages. We really appreciate it! - Smokie (talk) 04:21, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Please Note - If you go around randomly deleting content that you alone feel is "extraneous" then you risk alienating contributers who actually understand and have real world experience with these weapon systems. Just a thought. - 124.188.58.72 (talk) 10:42, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

That may be so, but this is a DayZ wiki. There's only so much information that's relevant here. For example, the specific Picatinny rail on the L85A2 is not relevant, nor is including the production history and service record of the M107; these things have no bearing on gameplay, nor will the player ever need to be concerned with them. Such details are entirely transparent to the player and are therefore simply unnecessary within the scope of the game.
If a player wants to know more technical information about a real world firearm, then there are plenty of places to find it. It is fascinating and educational, I can't argue that. Here, however, there's a line to be drawn between being thorough enough with gameplay-relevant details and avoiding drowning the player in the irrelevant extras. Damage, range, noise, rarity; these things are relevant. Real world information just tends not to be terribly useful in the scope of a game-specific wiki.
That said, I appreciate your perspective and I'm forwarding your concerns up the chain so that there will be a dialog regarding what is and is not "extraneous".
