Screenshot Improvement[]

New round of stuff for you! I'm going to be attempting to get new shots of all the M4 attachments. The previous ones are very old and not very good. These new ones will need to be rotated, sorry in advance! --Tatanko (talk) 23:10, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

Decided to just mark everything as needing improvement. Feel free to tackle them as you please from the "Image Improvement Needed" category page :) --Tatanko (talk) 02:53, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
My apologies. It's not always easy to get good contrast, but I've been trying to keep that in mind when I take shots for you to edit. Some of those black-colored attachments were very difficult! --Tatanko (talk) 12:02, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
I find that the blue sky works very well against almost every item. If you take HQ screenshots it's just a matter of turning down FoV and looking at the sky. You can almost always just Magic Wand away the entire background with only one or two selections. A low-res example Ipuvaepe (talk) 13:38, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Like I said, yes that's the best option to "extract" an item. A white wall also works fins for darkish item's. You find it in most building's. It's just a bit harder to cut out item's from image's with bad background. But you can simply add a brightness layer and set up brightess to 150 and latere just delete it again. I'm using the "Magic Erase/wand" tool rarely, since I think the best results in photoshop are possible with the "polygon lasso" or "fast selecting tool" combined with smoothing the edge's by using the "correcting edge's/cut" with manual values. -- 17:16, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

Congrats on making your way through a huge list of image replacements! :) Hopefully soon I'll be able to join you in creating these finished products, but for now, is there anything you'd like me to focus on taking screenshots of for new replacements? --Tatanko (talk) 19:26, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Thanks! No problem. I just like the idea of the DayZ game. And I like the Standalone version of it :) So I'm happy I can contribute anything to such a guide like this one. Sounds nice! Well, I'm a bit of a perfectionist, when it comes down to a guides like that. I would totally prefer it, to standardizing the item's in the guide. Like what I did with the ammunition boxes a few days ago, or take the skate helmet's for e.x. - we need new screens of those... if you go throught the guide, there still a lot of picture's which needs an upgrade. But I would love to go out on for proper screenhots hunt on the next stable ;) --TeriyakiAsthma (talk) 12:47, 24 May 2015 (UTC)

No problem. It just keeps the actual time needed for PNG's as low as possible with nice results. For example, the Boonie Hats I did recently. I just took one cap with a nice background (looked over the sea) and cut that one out and saved it as a photoshop mask. You just can put that mask over another cap, as long as the resolution fits and the item wasn't rotated or anything else. So basically just one good cap is needed from the same item to cut out the rest with 3 clicks. So not every shot has to be perfect ;)
